Asking for help can be a very challenging yet impactful experience for any individual. This sentiment is why I obtained my M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Benedictine University to become a mental health professional. My time working in the field has built my passion for helping adults throughout their lifespan. I have experience working with anxiety disorders, mood dysregulation, behavioral issues, and various social challenges. From our first session together, I strive to create a safe and welcoming space to address your concerns. We also collaborate on creating a treatment plan that will best serve your individual needs. My therapeutic approach is based on the principles of person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. *My review/experience is based on 2 sessions with Katherine—if it had made sense to continue seeing her, perhaps some of my thoughts/opinions would change. Also, to give the caveat, I had a EXCEPTIONAL therapist before moving to IL, so some of my opinions may be due to the sharp contrast.* Katherine was a reasonable therapist, but lacked a lot of experience and broader world-view. As I was explaining my life/family/issues/etc, she was responding/filling in the blanks with incorrect information. I was seeking a therapist for anxiety, but the sessions felt charged way more anxiety. At the conclusion of both my sessions, Katherine asked if she had met my expectations for the therapy sessions (with what felt like a very anxious undertone). It might have just been a bad personality fit.
