Getting to know Katherine Nolan

With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I have worked with a wide range of clients in various settings. I use a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, integrating mindfulness and CBT techniques. I focus on my clients’ goals, working on what they want to get out of therapy and the direction they want their life to take. My approach My approach to therapy is primarily client-centered. Focusing on the needs of my clients and honoring their personhood is the foundation of any successful therapeutic relationship. Knowing what a client is comfortable with helps me integrate other techniques. I have the most experience with trauma-informed practices, mindfulness, and CBT. My focus Aligning with a client-centered approach, I help my clients identify goals in their journey. A therapy session is designed around what the client wants to improve in their lives, and then we work together on how to get there. I have a background in trauma treatment and have worked with clients on issues ranging from depression and anxiety to recovery from trauma and psychotic episodes. My communication style During therapy, I prefer a more casual communication style. Developing a relationship can take time, and listening to my clients' comfort level in starting out is critical. I'm an active listener who will engage in dialogue about the topic at hand. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from DePaul University, which has provided me with a strong foundation to support my clinical work.
