Getting to know Katherine Patten

I aim to provide a therapeutic and supportive environment for clients across a wide range of psychiatric issues including high acuity, dual diagnosis, general adult, young adult, adolescent, and families of those with mental health issues. What should a new client know about working with you?

Being a mother to six children I understand emotional and physical responsibility, and adding the trauma of domestic violence and the ongoing concern for a son with a severe mental illness makes my endeavor to help others more profound. I will try to help my clients in a wide variety of ways, depending on the person’s needs, goals, and circumstances. Clients learn strategies to manage stress, regulate emotions, reduce anxiety, and handle difficult situations. For example, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps people challenge negative thought patterns and replace them with healthier ones. I create a nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This alone can offer relief, especially for those who feel isolated or misunderstood. I would like to assist clients to reach their full potential.
