Hi there, I'm Katherine! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in KS and MO. I specialize in substance abuse and mood disorders and work with my clients to achieve their identified goals. I believe in people and am amazed by their strength and endurance every day. My approach is to provide a warm, safe environment for my clients to process and navigate life problems without judgment. My approach I utilize motivational interviewing techniques with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help my client's identify their goals, create realistic treatment plans my client feels comfortable with and at their pace. I work with my client's to build strong coping skills, positive communication, learn how to regulate emotions and the ability to assess all angles of the self to promote positive behavioral changes that increase self esteem and self worth. My focus I work with adult clients, ages 18-100, who suffer from any type of addiction and mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, etc. I also treat dual-diagnosis clients (those who suffer from both addiction and a mood disorder simultaneously), as well as other types of trauma and personality disorders (specifically borderline personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, and dependent personality disorder). My communication style I utilize assertive communication to secure mutual respect, trust, and understanding within the therapeutic relationship. I strive to ensure my clients feel safe to share their thoughts and emotions without prejudice or judgement. I am honest with my clients and I encourage realistic outcomes that will enable healing and promote whole health. My journey to mental healthcare My grandmother contracted Alzheimer's disease when I was in my teens and it was the LSCSW at the hospital who really made me interested in working with the geriatric population.
