Getting to know Katherine Rubi Garcia

Rubi Garcia specializes in complex trauma, including childhood trauma, relationship issues, relationship betrayal, sexual assault, domestic violence, and infertility. Rubi offers trauma-informed, evidence-based modalities, including EMDR and somatic therapy, to provide the most effective care for her clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide trauma-informed therapy for adults who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from carrying too much for too long. My work goes beyond traditional talk therapy and focuses on healing the nervous system, where trauma, anxiety, and emotional patterns are stored. I specialize in EMDR therapy, somatic therapy, and nervous system regulation to treat complex trauma, relationship betrayal, infertility-related stress, anxiety, and depression. Many clients come to me after trying therapy before and still feeling triggered, anxious, or disconnected. My approach helps calm the body first so lasting emotional change can happen. Sessions are structured, supportive, and collaborative. You won’t be pressured to relive traumatic events or share more than you’re ready for. Instead, we focus on safety, emotional regulation, and gently processing what’s keeping you stuck—at a pace that feels manageable. I believe symptoms are not personal flaws but signs your nervous system has been working hard to protect you. Together, we work toward emotional relief, stability, clarity, and confidence so you can feel more grounded in your daily life and relationships. If you’re looking for EMDR therapy, trauma therapy, or anxiety and depression treatment that creates real change—not just insight—you may be a good fit for my practice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My work is trauma-informed, structured, and results-focused. I begin by understanding your history, current stressors, and how your nervous system responds to trauma, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. This allows us to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals. Before EMDR processing begins, we focus on stabilization and nervous system regulation so you feel grounded and supported—not overwhelmed. Many clients experience relief early on through somatic and regulation-based tools. When you’re ready, we use EMDR therapy to process unresolved experiences without requiring you to relive or retell trauma in detail. Sessions are collaborative, intentional, and paced, with a strong focus on safety, clarity, and lasting change. This approach is ideal for clients seeking EMDR therapy, trauma-focused care, and deeper healing beyond traditional talk therapy.
