Getting to know Dr. Kathleen Davis

Hello and welcome! My name is Dr. Kathy Davis, and I am a mental health therapist specializing in depression, disability, anxiety, grief, stress, trauma, and adjustment. Additionally, I have worked extensively with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Schizophrenia and related disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, ADD/ADHD, and homeless clients. My approach is a warm, Midwestern style--we are welcoming, yet straight-forward in our communication. Please be assured that you will be treated with dignity and respect, and a mind-body-spirit approach is integrated into the sessions. The highlight of our appointments is helping you learn what is triggering your current stress, and encouraging you to feel empowered to make changes for a balanced life. We will use various techniques that may include homework (only if it is useful--some clients like it, others do not), videos, books, worksheets, or practicing behaviors. Or, some people prefer simply to talk, know they are being heard, and their feelings validated. My background includes rehabilitation counseling (working with people with disabilities), career counseling, and mental health therapy. My training includes a doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Master's from Western Michigan University in Counseling. I hold current licensure as a Clinical Professional Counselor in Nevada. Additionally, I am Board Certified through the National Board for Certified Counselors, and as a Rehabilitation Counselor through the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification. My interests include travel, concerts, and spending time with my hound dogs. Thank you! I look forward to meeting you!
