What should a new client know about working with you?

Drawing upon both my personal journey as a Woman of Color and my specialized training on race and gender, I established an inclusive and nurturing environment where Women of Color can openly share their unique experiences and find unwavering support. Through our collaborative efforts, my clients gain the ongoing validation and reassurance to navigate their surroundings with newfound confidence thus transforming their lives.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your place as the expert on your life is a valuable asset that you bring to therapy. My aim is to help you embrace this place fully. We begin by delving into your narrative—what's unfolding in your world? What prompted you to seek therapy, and what are your aspirations in this process? As you share your story, I assist you in deconstructing it, breaking it down into manageable components. Because I am a trauma informed therapist, I appreciate the role that trauma has had on my clients' development. I can help you to talk about what happened to you while pacing our discussions to avoid retraumatization. By prioritizing pace in therapy, you gain clarity on the issues at hand without feeling forced to share things that you do not feel ready to share. As our collaborative work progresses, you'll develop a clearer self-awareness. You will be able to notice what happened in the past and acknowledge how it continues to impact you. At the same time, you will be able to recognize the role you play in shaping your life experiences from now on. Through the process of externalization, you can separate yourself from the problem and reduce feelings of shame associated with our challenging life experiences and failures. Over time, you'll gain the ability to face life's challenges without self-blame, allowing you to identify and address the problems that arise more effectively. You will feel empowered to concentrate on changing behaviors that obstruct your journey towards your goals without guilt or shame.
