Getting to know Kathleen McKinley

Life is complicated and messy. Sometimes you need a little help to sort through the mess and see the joy of the moment. That's where therapy comes in. In my office, I strive to create a judgment-free zone where you can safely and confidently sort through life’s problems. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University, which equips me with the skills and knowledge to support you through your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My main areas of clinical experience have been working members of the LGBTQIA+ community and parents struggling with mental health issues both post partum and beyond. I have experience with a variety of Mental Health diagnoses including Depression, anxiety, trauma disorders, bipolar disorder, and dual diagnosis of substance use and Mental health disorders.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I utilize a strengths based approach in my sessions that includes skills from CBT, DBT, Motivation Interviewing, Narrative approaches, and seeking safety. But above all, I like to develop a secure and fun relationship with my clients.
