Hi there, I'm Kathryn! I'm Katia, and my primary focus is working with individuals who experience anxiety, stress, depression, and general life adjustment issues. I believe it's important to learn how to practice self-awareness so when difficult situations occur, we have a better sense of how to handle things, and hopefully, increased feelings of being in control. My approach I use a lot of mind-body connection framework, including psychoeducation, to explain how our body responds to thoughts, situations, and feelings, so you can learn to predict how a situation might cause you to feel, and learn to use interventions to change negative responses to more comfortable ones. I use CBT, Polyvagal, and Somatic approaches, and primarily brief solution-focused therapy. The goal would be to help you learn to identify what is happening within you and around you, and what types of interventions and changes of thinking could help you navigate situations with more comfort and confidence. My focus I primarily work with individuals who are struggling with stress, life adjustments, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I specialize in adolescents and young adults, as well as parenting issues. My communication style My communication style is empathetic yet direct. I purposefully use humor to reflect that sometimes the situations we find ourselves in are just ridiculous, and also sometimes learning to laugh at ourselves is a forgotten coping skill. I use plain language and tend to use common scenario analogies. I don't use a lot of "therapy talk" and like for the overall tone to feel conversational and mutually interactive.
