Getting to know Kathryn Williams

I help individuals navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, trauma, and patterns that can leave them feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. Many of my clients are high functioning in their daily lives while internally struggling with overwhelm, self-doubt, emotional burnout, or difficulty creating fulfilling relationships. My approach is insight-oriented, trauma-informed, and grounded in nervous system awareness, helping clients better understand the underlying emotional and behavioral patterns impacting their lives. I work collaboratively with clients to build self-awareness, strengthen emotional regulation, improve relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. My style is warm, direct, and thoughtful, integrating evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s individual needs and goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and my goal is to create a space where clients feel both supported and challenged in a meaningful way. My approach is collaborative, relational, and insight-oriented. I help clients explore not only their thoughts and behaviors, but also the deeper emotional and nervous system patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, self-esteem challenges, or feeling stuck. Sessions are often exploratory and reflective while also remaining practical and goal-oriented. I integrate evidence-based approaches with trauma-informed and attachment-focused perspectives, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs and experiences. I value honesty, curiosity, and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship, and I encourage clients to show up as they are rather than feeling pressure to “perform” in therapy. Clients often come to therapy wanting more than symptom relief alone. Many are looking to better understand themselves, improve relationships, build self-trust, process past experiences, and create more sustainable emotional balance in their lives.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, including current stressors, emotional patterns, relationship dynamics, and treatment goals. Together, we identify how symptoms are impacting daily life and create a treatment approach tailored to your needs. Ongoing sessions are collaborative and may include processing emotions, exploring patterns, building coping skills, improving communication, and increasing emotional regulation and self-awareness. My approach integrates trauma-informed, attachment-focused, psychodynamic, CBT, and nervous system-based perspectives depending on your and your goals.
