It is not always easy to ask for help, especially with all of the expectations and time constraints we may feel we have. I focus on meeting you where you are at and working with you to create a balance in your life. While we can't change other people or many situations that we face, we can better learn how to manage our own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in response to others and situations. I use an eclectic approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Treatment, and Motivational Interviewing to help assist you in making positive change. I enjoy working with individuals who may be going through difficult seasons of their lives and need a new perspective. I also have a passion for helping couples improve their communication and relationship dynamics.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is down-to-earth, practical, and relational. I believe that therapy can be hard work, so I strive to have fun and use humor with clients while we work to cultivate positive change. I believe that we should live life with compassion and strive to learn more about ourselves and others. I believe life is a continual learning process, and I enjoy getting to know more about others and their worldview. I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people. I love to learn, and I love to learn about people. Everyone has a unique story and a unique perspective that is worth hearing. I have worked with many different settings/populations in my career because I wanted the experience to see all sides of people and their communities.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe in helping you to brainstorm areas you would like to change and collaboratively develop goals that are purposeful. I use quality-based measurement tools so that we can easily track progress or areas we may need to re-focus. I use SMART goals, which allow for easy tracking of your progress in both qualitative and quantifiable ways, along with reviewing and re-establishing goals as things change. The first session with me will be a comprehensive assessment so I can help to narrow in on the best ways to support you in treatment and develop goals. My hope is for you to leave the session excited about starting therapy and the journey towards improving your future.
