Getting to know Katie Bortniak
Hello, I am a licensed clinical social worker in Florida. I have been licensed since 2016. I graduated with my master's from Florida Atlantic University in 2012. I have worked with a wide range of clients from a variety of backgrounds. I have training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art Therapy, Brazelton Touchpoints, and Infant Mental Health. Some of the main concerns that my clients have had include depression, past trauma including physical and emotional abuse, relationship dynamics, anxiety, caregiver challenges, and help with managing life stressors. I enjoy joining with clients on their journey and helping them work towards getting to where they want to be. I know it can be hard to take that first step to reach out for help. I would be honored to be the one to help your start the process. I look forward to being a part of your process!
What should a new client know about working with you?
Each session will provide an opportunity to leave with more insight, feel lighter after being able to express emotions, have a clearer mindset, and gain ideas of skills that can be used to help with reaching overall goals. Typically, I try to provide clients with some sort of task to work on in between sessions that can improve or maintain progress towards goals.
