Getting to know Katie Cooper

*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* I work with adults and adolescents who are navigating ADHD, depression, anxiety, identity challenges, and periods of transition. My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy and collaboration, offering a space where you can feel understood and supported while exploring your experiences. Together, we’ll identify areas for growth, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful changes that support personal fulfillment and self-acceptance. I approach each session with a commitment to authenticity, curiosity, and compassion. I believe therapy should offer clients a nonjudgmental, flexible space where they feel safe to process heavy feelings and empowered to explore their strengths and challenges. It is my greatest priority to create a space where your whole self can be seen, affirmed, and honored. It would be a privilege to join you in your journey towards personal growth, self-understanding, and a greater sense of connection. When you are ready to proceed, I am available to meet you where you’re at with warmth and compassion. Katie Cooper has a Master’s in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Katie is a Limited Permit Marriage and Family Therapist, MFT-LP 06-P133757-02 at Cerebral (New York). Supervised by Caren Levensohn, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) 049701 (New York).

What should a new client know about working with you?

I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up exactly as they are and feel truly heard. In our sessions, you can expect a calm, compassionate presence and honest conversations that help you make sense of what you’re feeling. My hope is that our work together helps you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself and others.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in providing individualized care for adults and adolescents navigating ADHD, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. My work centers on helping clients develop greater self-understanding, build more meaningful relationships, and implement practical, sustainable strategies for engaging in everyday life. I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from psychodynamic theory and evidence-based practices, including CBT, ACT, and DBT.
