“I adore Katie. It feels like talking to a friend but with the added bonus that she is knowledgeable and unbiased. She never tells me what to do, but instead she gives me the tools to help me find the solutions myself and it allows me to grow and have healthier relationships with my family. It’s so different from therapy I’ve done in the past but in the best way. She is so easy to open up to that I can barely stop talking lol but it feels so good to be listened to and validated regarding my feelings. I really love that she is able to connect with me on a personal level and share some common experiences. It makes me feel so much less alone in my struggles and it makes things that seem daunting a lot less scary. My life has changed for the better since starting therapy with Katie and I can’t thank her enough for being here for me at such a pivotal time in my life. She is much more than a therapist to me, and I plan to stick with her for as long as she’s willing to put up with me ;)”

Getting to know Katie Douros

I'm a licensed therapist (LCSW) providing remote mental health services for clients located in NC and SC. I have a bachelor's in Human Services from Montreat College, where I played soccer, and a Master's in Social Work from East Carolina University with a concentration in substance use. In my time in the field, I have worked with a wide variety of clientele. I started in the field with a focus on trauma and substance use, particularly with victims of human trafficking (domestic minors and adult immigrants), and also worked in wilderness camps with teens involved in the juvenile justice system. Then I transitioned into work in a psychiatric hospital setting, gaining experience with geriatric, child, adolescent, adult, severe and persistent mental illness, and substance-using populations. In addition to these areas, I have spent years working in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing settings. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my little family, design, real estate, playing soccer, surfing, travel, DIY house projects, making Excel spreadsheets, eating good food, audiobooks, and watching TV on the couch.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
