Hi there, I'm Katrina! Hi, I am Katrina Deschene and have been a licensed professional counselor for 4 years in MN and a year in ND. I earned my Master's in Counseling Education from North Dakota State University. I believe you are the expert of your story and have many strengths to overcome challenges. Taking the first step toward a happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. My approach I help clients with stress, anxiety, depression, impulse control, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma, and abuse. I am trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, play therapy, motivational interviewing, humanistic approaches, attachment bio-behavioral catch-up, CBT, DBT, and internal family systems. My focus I have experience with children, adults, families, and community agencies for care coordination and resource connection. I am comfortable with all presenting problems except addiction struggles, couples/marriage therapy, and psychiatry concerns with medications. Referrals are provided for these. My communication style I create a comfortable, friendly therapy environment. You are a person beyond your struggles, and I hold that as most important. I keep safety in mind while establishing treatment plans. I hope to create comfort for you to ask questions and get to know me as a provider. My journey to mental healthcare I was drawn to therapy because of family members who struggled with mental health and negative therapy experiences.
