What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with individuals to successfully navigate their life transitions, manage their anxiety, and create relationships that are fulfilling. My goal as your therapist is to not only help you see the contributing factors to what is making you feel stuck but also to guide you through the process to help you live a life that feels deeply satisfying and true to you. By creating a comfortable and supportive environment, infused with humor and objectivity, I will help you reduce those obstacles back down to a digestible size, and provide you with the tools and techniques to tackle them on your own. I have extensive clinical experience working with children, adults, and couples of diverse backgrounds and I will tailor my approach based on your needs, leaning on a client centered approach and a combination of introspective exploration techniques coupled with strength-based strategies.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is where my clients get to know me and share their concerns and goals for coming to therapy. I aim to create both a trusting therapeutic relationship and a comfortable environment to facilitate connection, self-discovery, healing, and personal transformation. Our work together will give you the tools to help transition your life in a more desirable direction. I also provide my clients with homework assignments to reinforce the coping strategies discussed in session.

Dr. Kay Rubin is a phenomenal therapist whose support has been invaluable to me during one of the most difficult chapters of my life. As I’ve navigated the emotional complexities of divorce, separation, and the deep concern I have for my children, Dr. Rubins has provided not only compassionate care but also practical insights that have helped me understand my feelings and reactions on a deeper level. Her ability to blend empathy with clarity has helped me make sense of the grief, confusion, and emotional weight I’ve been carrying. She offers tools and perspectives that have not only aided in my healing but have equipped me with the emotional strength to handle future challenges more confidently. I truly couldn’t recommend Dr. Rubins enough. She is an exceptional doctor and therapist whose guidance has made a lasting impact on my recovery and personal growth.
Dr. Rubin has been so helpful for our marriage. She listens without judgement, making each session feel like a truly safe and comfortable space. Even in the short time we have been seeing her, she has made quite the impact on how we approach challenges. We are so grateful for her knowledge, insight, and actionable steps that continue to help us!
She is truly the best therapist, she is flexible, kind and really works with you to make a difference. She is dedicated and passionate about what she does and it shows.
Dr. Rubin has helped me navigate one of the hardest periods of my life. She is a great listener and asks thought provoking questions that really helped me reframe my mindset. I am not the same person I was months ago when I started therapy, very thankful!
When I first started going to Dr. Rubin I was a very weak and fragile person that didn't know how to love myself or how to stand up for myself and how to care for myself. Throughout the past time that I have been with her I have come to have a lot more respect for myself. A lot more compassion for myself. And I am definitely learning how to love myself. I think she is the best therapists that I have had. And I've had many a therapist. I'm grateful for all that she has done for me. Because honestly, I was in a very dark place and now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know if you decide to make her your therapist, you'll be in very good hands.????????
Dr Rubin has literally helped us transform our marriage. In just a few months we went from feeling like we hit rock bottom to feeling like partners and best friends in love again. Her attention to making sure she comprehended our needs as individuals within our marriage was so precise. She made sure she heard us and that we heard each other. She provided reading materials, tools, homework, and everything we needed to grow our bond again. She helped us drastically approve our communication skills and helped us grow. We Actually look forward to our sessions with her each week!!! I cannot recommend her enough!!!!
I started working with Dr Rubin when I was going through a marital crisis and was in a very low place emotionally. She has been pivotal in my healing journey through divorce. I love how she always makes me realize stuff on my own by providing the right tools and sharing different insights. She is objective, trustworthy and has made me feel so comfortable sharing all different things happening in my life with no judgement and with compassion.
Dr. Kay Rubin was a pleasure to work with. This was our first time talking with a therapist (as a couple) and she put us at ease immediately and we looked forward to our meetings with her. During our sessions, she explained why we reacted the way we did in certain situations and how it affected the other person. There were many times we were surprised at how spot on she was! She is knowledgeable in how to improve communication skills which I think almost everyone can benefit from. Thank you Dr. Rubin for helping us improve our marriage and giving us the tools to strengthen our communication. We have grown closer with your guidance.
