“Kei helped me with my panic attacks and high anxiety. I was feeling terrible every single day before I worked with Kei. I have experienced various types of trauma since I was very young—some that I was aware of and some that I wasn’t. With Kei’s support, I was able to uncover many experiences from my past, and over time this helped me develop a greater sense of safety in the world. Eventually, I realized that I was confidently doing many things I used to be afraid of. I highly recommend working with Kei if you are struggling with your mental health due to a history of trauma. It’s worth it!”

“Before I found Kei, I had worked with multiple therapists in the past, and some of those experiences made me feel “untreatable” or “broken.” With Kei, I felt like I found my own voice, and I became less afraid of being judged by others. In my work with Kei, she used EMDR therapy. Kei created a safe space for me to process my trauma. I may be exaggerating, but healing from trauma felt life-changing for me, and I am truly glad I tried EMDR therapy with Kei.”

Getting to know Keiko Izumi

I am a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive therapist dedicated to helping individuals with trauma and mental health challenges. I work with people experiencing trauma-related conditions such as PTSD, C-PTSD, Panic Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, and Dissociation. While I now focus on trauma recovery, I originally trained in addiction recovery and worked with individuals facing substance use and trauma. Reaching out to a therapist requires courage when feeling alone, powerless, and unsafe. I believe no one should struggle alone. I’m here to support you on your recovery journey. Trauma is painful, and I want to help you break free from past events, regain control, and find the strength to live authentically. In therapy, I use techniques from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Motivational Interviewing, Existential Therapy, and Relationship Therapy. EMDR and IFS help access and process difficult memories for healing. I also emphasize setting healthy boundaries. What distinguishes my therapy is my commitment to creating a safe, non-judgmental environment. I believe in collaboration and work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans and goals. As a minority, I understand the importance of cultural sensitivity and strive to provide a space where clients from all backgrounds feel valued and heard. For more information about my practice and approach, please feel free to search ‘Trauma Therapy Chicago LLC’ online.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a culturally sensitive EMDRIA (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association) certified EMDR therapist and an Evergreen Certification Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level 2 (CCTP-II). I have also completed the Trauma Research Foundation’s Certificate in Trauma Stress Studies, as well as various IFS (Internal Family Systems) based training programs. I am always eager to support people who are struggling emotionally and mentally because of their trauma history.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In my therapy sessions, I incorporate techniques from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Motivational Interviewing, Existential Therapy, and Relational Therapy. During trauma processing sessions, I use EMDR and IFS to access and process difficult memories, facilitating psychological healing. I also frequently emphasize the importance of setting healthy boundaries.

Kei truly made an impact in my life. She helped me, to grow and to move forward. She truly helped me and I appreciate her.

Kei is so understanding and helpful. She creates a calm space for you to show up as you are that day. Therapy can be scary, but it has been really easy to talk to Kei. I look forward to my appointments. Highly recommend working with Kei!
We’ve had an amazing journey together past year! I am so grateful for all Kei taught me and helped me with! I cannot put into words how much she has changed my life for the better! Truly, Kei has been an angel in my life from God.
Kei is an amazing therapist! This is my first experience working with a therapist and it has really changed my life for the better. Before going to Trauma Therapy, I was "fine" going through life but having a lot of random moments where I would start crying out of nowhere and could not stop. Therapy is helping me to gently bring things from the past to the surface (in a supported and calm environment!) that I didn't fully realize were impacting me so negatively My appointments are my landing place where I know I can come to feel supported and encourged. I highly recommend seeing Kei if you are therapy curious!
