“Today was my first session. He mostly wanted to get to know my history and why I was seeking therapy. He was a great listener and very personable. His experience and knowledge is what led me to choose him as my therapist and after speaking with him today, I have a great feeling about future sessions. He was easy to talk to and did not show any judgement toward me. I appreciate his flexible schedule as I have a very structurally busy daily life. Our session didn't feel rushed or scripted in a way to cause me to feel like just another number or a study patient. It seems like he truly cares about helping others. I look forward to meeting with him again as I believe he has the right approach and knowledge to help me through my own personally difficulties and it seems like he take a logical and factual approach which it what I am looking for in a therapist.”

Getting to know Keith Wilson

Hi there, I'm Keith! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University, the University of Tennessee (Master's in Social Work), and Boston University (Doctor of Ministry). I live in Santa Rosa, a city in the northern part of the San Francisco Bay Area. My approach I have been working with anxiety containment and trauma resolution for most of my career. We can't change the past, but we can change the power of the past. In the same way, we can't stop anxiety, but we can predict when it will come and create strategies and skills to contain it. Containing anxiety empowers clients not to get stuck in the catastrophizing downward spiral. My focus I like to specialize in areas that connect to anxiety. This includes depression and ADHD. Other areas of expertise include sports performance, performance anxiety, LGBTQ+, gender identity, sexual trauma, and transforming childhood belief systems. Managing anxiety is a key skill to learning how to perform under pressure. Being in the zone of optimal performance helps you to be your best when it matters most. My communication style My communication starts with active listening. I am most helpful when we form a strong therapeutic relationship. My style is conversational so you feel listened to and receive perceptions and options to assist in your specific situation. I work in the Emergency Department at Stanford Hospital, a level 1 trauma center, where I work three overnight shifts per week. Sometimes clients appreciate my perceptions based on my experience in a major medical environment. My goals for you Goal setting is important in therapy. My process is a narrative one where our conversations help to set priorities and then create a quantifiable plan to achieve those priorities. Understanding the journey of success begins with knowing where you want to go.
