Psychotherapist

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with survivors of domestic violence and or sexual violence, dealing with symptoms of post-traumatic stress Disorder. Although I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral therapy, I prefer to use an eclectic approach to counseling based on the needs of the individual. My approach During my 25+ years as a counselor, I have learned that several theories are beneficial to counseling. The ones that I primarily use are CBT, cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, REBT, and Client Centered Therapy. Treatment plans are tailored to the individual needs of the client. My focus Currently, I am working with both adults and adolescents who have PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety/panic disorder, and Borderline Personality disorder. I enjoy working with all populations and the different challenges that they face. I don't believe that there is a problem too small if it is troubling to that person. My communication style My communication style is relaxed, friendly, and genuine, with elements of humor. I want clients to feel comfortable and safe sharing anything they need to without fear of judgment. I have the chance to work with people from all walks of life and varying degrees of pain and trauma. I am compassionate and honest, and I provide feedback and support. My journey to mental healthcare I have always had a desire to help people. Even as a teenager, my friends would use me as a sounding board for their struggles. I see my career as a counselor as being a privilege and opportunity to connect with those who are hurting and to assist them in their healing. My goals for you I like to use a collaborative approach to goal setting and treatment planning. In the first session, we will discuss your goals and what that looks like to you. Then, from time to time, we will revisit the goals to see if they are still the same. Ultimately, you decide what goals are best.
