One of my favorite quotes is, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle that you know nothing about.” No one gets through life without their heart being shattered or broken in some way. Sometimes we create our own messes, but many times our wounds come from others. Our pain often lies to us, causing us to lose hope because we can’t find a way out of our suffering. I long to provide a safe place where we can journey into the mess together to uncover the hurt that keeps you from embracing your unique identity, seeing your true worth, and finding hope and healing. While I received my professional training from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, I believe some of my greatest insights come from life experience and what I’ve learned from others as I’ve waded through my own brokenness to find healing. I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) in Nebraska serving individuals, couples, and families in rural areas. I worked in the public school system as a music educator and school counselor for numerous years before making a transition into community mental health. I specialize in trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, self-injury, and eating disorders, but have experience in working with many other mental health struggles. I provide therapy from a variety of theoretical approaches matching them to each client’s unique situation. I completed EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) basic and advanced training. I also provide QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography) brain mapping and neurotherapy. These modalities offer real-time feedback about brain activity in order to reinforce healthy brain functioning. These alternative approaches to treatment often provide the missing keys to restoring health for those who continue to struggle despite previous counseling experiences.
