Psychotherapist
CA
Emotional pain, discomfort and general dissatisfaction are the greatest motivators for change and generally are what lead people to seek psychotherapy. My primary goal is to help you implement change for improved emotional and/or relationship health. I strive to help people uncover what is “not working” in their lives and provide them with tools that will assist them in working through difficult situations. My therapeutic style is relatable and down-to-earth and I believe that a good client-therapist relationship is key to the therapeutic process. I specialize in issues important to LGBTQIA+ individuals/couples/families, like early substance use recovery, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, coming out process, acceptance/family issues, HIV adjustment issues, grief/loss, trauma, gender identity issues, and psychological recovery from trauma. I enjoy helping LGBTQIA+ people resolve early family issues that continue to block happiness. In addition, I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families dealing with issues related to depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, abuse, substance abuse, addictions, anger management, and life transitions. I have been in the mental health field for 12 years and have provided therapy to a variety of clientele. I take an eclectic approach to therapy and adjust my style based on the needs of the client. I follow the teachings of Humanistic Psychology which looks at the whole person and works with the uniqueness of each individual. I completed my undergraduate work in psychology at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and then went on to pursue my graduate training at Azusa Pacific University. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences and am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
