If you’re looking for a therapist who is down-to-earth, relatable, and focused on helping you not just feel better, but truly understand yourself and create lasting change, I’d love to work with you. I’m a clinical mental health counselor (pre-licensed) with a background in both education and mental health, which gives me a grounded, real-world perspective on the challenges my clients face. I hold two master’s degrees—one from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a second in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University—and I’m currently pursuing licensure in Illinois. Before transitioning fully into counseling, I spent years in public education as a special education teacher and inclusion facilitator. In that role, I supported students, families, and school teams in creating environments where individuals felt seen, understood, and like they truly belonged. Much of my work centered around building relationships, fostering empathy, and helping others better understand behavior rather than just react to it. That lens carries directly into my work as a therapist. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, ADHD-related challenges, relationship stress, and feeling overwhelmed or stuck. I also bring a personal perspective as a mom, which helps me connect with clients who are balancing a lot and often feel overwhelmed trying to meet everyone else’s needs. My style is warm, direct, and practical. I’m not just here to listen, I’m here to help you understand yourself on a deeper level and make meaningful, realistic changes in your life. Over time, my goal is that you don’t just feel “better,” but that you leave therapy with a deeper understanding of who you are, why you think and respond the way you do, and the ability to move through life with greater confidence, clarity, and intention.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You’ll feel understood, not analyzed: I focus on building a genuine connection first, because real change happens when you feel safe and seen. Collaborative: This is tailored to you—your goals, your pace, your life. Rooted in empathy: We approach your experiences without shame or judgment. Insight + action: We figure out why patterns exist and what actually works for you. Lasting change: Self-understanding is what actually creates long-term change. Honest and supportive: I’ll validate you, but also challenge you when it helps you grow.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First session: We talk through what’s bringing you in and what you want to feel different. Understanding patterns: We explore your experiences and behaviors with curiosity, not judgment. Goal setting: We define clear, realistic goals that matter to you. Building skills: You’ll gain practical tools while also understanding the “why” behind them. Ongoing work: We adjust and build as you grow. Moving forward: We focus on maintaining progress and confidence outside of therapy.
