Getting to know Kelly O'Hanlon

As a Licensed Therapist, I offer a compassionate and affirming space for adolescents, adults, and older individuals to explore grief, trauma, identity, and patterns that may no longer serve them. My therapeutic approach is grounded in a person-centered philosophy—I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you with empathy and curiosity as you reconnect with your values and begin to shape a more intentional, fulfilling path forward. I work from an integrative lens, drawing on evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches allow us to identify and understand unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior, develop coping skills, and cultivate deeper self-awareness. Whether you are processing loss, navigating a major life transition, or healing from complex trauma, I aim to provide a therapeutic experience that is validating, empowering, and tailored to your unique needs. Creating a sense of safety and trust is at the heart of my work. I strive to create an atmosphere where you can show up authentically—without judgment or pressure—and begin to reconnect with your strengths and resilience. Growth often unfolds in small, meaningful moments of insight and courage, and it’s an honor to witness clients discover their capacity to heal and move forward with purpose and clarity. Outside of the therapy room, I find peace in nature and hiking, immersing myself in open-world RPG video games, reading, crocheting, and spending time with my four beloved cats: Potatoes, Chips, Krrsanten, and Tauntaun (yes—if you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll get the references!).

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe healing happens in safe, compassionate spaces where people feel seen, heard, and accepted as they are. Everyone has the capacity for growth, especially when supported in exploring their truth with curiosity and care. I value authenticity, connection, and the power of vulnerability in the therapeutic process. I believe in affirming all identities and honoring diverse lived experiences, especially within LGBTQIA+ and nontraditional communities. Growth isn’t linear, and I respect each person’s pace and path. I trust that meaningful change comes from self-awareness, emotional openness, and building tools for resilience. I hold a deep respect for the strength it takes to show up for yourself, especially during transitions and times of pain. My role is to walk alongside clients with empathy, helping them reconnect to their values and live more authentically, aligned with who they truly are.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based techniques, I help clients uncover and challenge the unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that often keep them feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected from their true selves. Together, we work to increase awareness of the mind–body connection, explore how thoughts and emotions influence actions, and develop practical coping tools that promote resilience and self-compassion. In sessions, I often integrate a variety of grounding exercises to help clients anchor in the present moment and create emotional balance. This allows for deeper insight, greater self-understanding, and the ability to respond to life’s challenges with intention rather than reactivity. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity exploration, or relationship patterns, my goal is to create a supportive environment that fosters curiosity, acceptance, and authentic change. I deeply value authenticity, curiosity, and compassion in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to meet each person where they are—with empathy, openness, and a genuine interest in understanding their lived experience. My hope is that through our work together, clients can reconnect with what brings them meaning, cultivate a greater sense of peace, and build a life that feels both aligned and fulfilling.
