These types of statements often reflect the feelings my clients or their parents have. I am a child and teen expert helping kids with behavioral issues and big emotions learn skills to thrive at school, home, and with friends. I also work with parents like you to help you cope and learn skills to help your child get better faster! The early and teen years create special challenges for children, teens, and their parents alike. Whether parenting a difficult child with behavior problems, coping with divorce or trauma, or trying to improve quality of life, I use a compassionate, healing approach tailored to identify problems and solutions. I specialize in children, teens, and families. I hold a Master's in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Call me today for a free consultation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many of my clients say they tried therapy before, and it didn't work. I provide therapy methods backed by clinical research that gets results such as: play therapy, DBT, EMDR, and ART. I work with children and teens who have behavioral problems, trauma, anxiety and depression, or divorce transition. I also work with adults seeking healing from trauma. As a play therapist, trauma specialist, and parenting professional, I provide services to clients of all ages in a supportive and caring environment focused on helping clients reach their goals and overcome life obstacles. I help clients restore hope, passion, and accountability through a respectful and relaxed approach individually tailored to each client.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I know starting counseling for your child can be a scary process and my goal is to make it as comfortable as possible from start to finish. Your first session will likely be a parent session. This session may include one or both parents or additional caregivers/guardians of the child. I will take time to learn about your family, your child, and the challenges that bring you to therapy. At this meeting, you will learn more about play therapy, what to expect, how you will be involved in your child’s therapy, and get any important questions you may have answered. I know your child is important to you and want to take as much time as possible to address your concerns and make sure we can work together to get the help your child needs. You as a parent are the most important part of a child’s life. While your child may meet alone with me for all or part of an appointment, I will make sure you know exactly what the treatment plan is and work with you regularly to provide information and skills to you as the parent as well as to receive feedback from you that may help your little one gets better faster! I believe in a collaborative approach with parents. This means you may also join in for all or part of some play therapy sessions depending on the unique needs of your child. I find that when parents play a big part in their child’s therapy, children benefit and learn to handle big emotions better, feel more connected, and learn to control behaviors faster.

We believe clients and clinicians should direct care, not big business. Having worked in the therapy world for over a decade we have seen how at times, the modern healthcare system is not designed for an individual’s success at meeting their treatment goals. As a result, we have decided not to partner with any insurance companies and are fully self-pay. We are happy to discuss options for using out of network benefits and the pros/cons of doing so. We also accept FSA and HSA accounts and Care Credit. Cost per session $185, $100 for LENS neurofeedback
