Getting to know Dr. Kelly Polnaszek

Hello! I'm Yania Marie Pérez, Psy.D., a bilingual (English and Spanish) postdoctoral fellow in clinical psychology. I believe that seeking therapy is a courageous step, and I'm committed to creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life. I work with young adults and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and relationship challenges. I also have a special passion for perinatal mental health, supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, infertility, pregnancy loss, early parenthood, and other reproductive transitions. These experiences can bring unexpected emotional challenges, and you don't have to navigate them alone.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, and Solution-Focused Therapy, while recognizing the important role that culture, identity, family, values, and life experiences play in your mental health and healing journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goal is to help you better understand yourself, build practical tools to manage life's challenges, and move toward the life you want to create. Whether you're working through anxiety, recovering from difficult experiences, adjusting to a new stage of life, or simply looking for a space to grow, I will meet you with empathy, authenticity, and respect. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels right for you as we build resilience, confidence, and lasting positive change.
