What should a new client know about working with you?

There are moments in life when you feel like you don’t have any motivation, you don’t want to see your close friends and family, and things are simply too much or too hard to do. You start to think that being alone is the best solution and that reaching out to others might be a burden. You find yourself not wanting to do things you used to like and you’re noticing that it’s difficult to concentrate at work, at school, or even at home. Suddenly, you notice that you have fallen into a cycle that you can’t get out of. It becomes harder and harder to do things, and you’re telling yourself that it can’t get better. As we work together, we’ll discuss recent changes in your life and the impact on your daily functioning. We’ll identify the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are keeping you in that cycle. Together we will work on how to manage while feeling stuck, address the thoughts of “it will never get better,” and find activities that you enjoy. The treatment plan we will formulate will help you get back to yourself again.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

If you are seeking services for the first time, it can be a little scary not knowing what someone might ask of you, or how you’ll be able to open up to someone you have never met before. During our first session, my goal is for you to feel comfortable in sharing what you are ready to disclose and that you feel that you are in a safe space, free of judgement. You’ll hear me asking about why you’re seeking services. what your day/routine looks like, your friend/family relationships, and how you feel about enrolling in services. You can also ask me questions to make sure I am the right fit for you. I believe that the client-therapist relationship is the main foundation to feeling comfortable in discussing your life story and any concerns.
