Kelsey Skerpan, LMHC, ATR

Psychotherapist
NY
Hi! My name is Kelsey Skerpan. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) through the Art Therapy Credentialing Board. I began practicing in 2016 in Boston, MA, after completing my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University. I then moved back to my home state of New York to continue practicing, which led me to be licensed in both New York and Massachusetts. I love incorporating art therapy into sessions because I feel it provides a valuable shift in mindset and perspective. Throughout my practice, I have supported individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, ADD, ADHD, ASD, as well as relationship and adjustment challenges. I approach my work with a client-centered lens, meeting clients where they are that day in a warm, compassionate, creative, and interactive space. When clients express interest in art therapy, I integrate it as another modality for exploring different perspectives and mindsets. I believe art therapy serves as a creative tool to challenge and process thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I also utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques and ideas in sessions when appropriate. My hope is that clients leave feeling validated and heard, with thoughts about how they might move forward in achieving their goals. I look forward to supporting you by creating a safe therapeutic space centered around your goals to foster healing and growth.
