Kelvin Mccoy, LCSW

Kelvin Mccoy, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
I like to meet the patient where they are: this means we are consultative, directive, and communicative to develop goals and approach. I work with PTSD, addictive personalities, relational issues, anxiety, life stages, marital issues, and compulsive behaviors. My approach is primarily CBT and Trauma-Focused CBT, but I also incorporate Solution-Focused, Christian, and client-centered methods. My focus includes working with those who have experienced sexual abuse, assault, military trauma, first responder trauma, addiction, divorce, marital issues, teen issues, and abuse. My communication style aims to create a safe, communicative environment that fosters therapy while allowing genuine personality to be exchanged. My journey to mental healthcare began naturally, as I was often my friends' and family's confidant and advisor, even though I initially thought I would become a vet. I became known as Bones. I earned my Master's in Clinical Social Work from Southern Illinois University, which has equipped me with the skills to support my clients effectively. My goals for you: this is a team effort between the therapist and the client. My first session with you is an exchange that allows us to get to know each other and establish a direction to best meet your intentions with therapy, including setting clear goals.
