Kerrie-Anne Weickert, LMHC, LPC

Kerrie-Anne Weickert, LMHC, LPC

Psychotherapist
NY
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma, grief and loss, chronic illness and pain, end-of-life concerns, and major life transitions. I work with both developmental and acute trauma, supporting clients in understanding how past and present experiences can shape their emotions, relationships, sense of self, and nervous system. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, relational, and trauma-informed. I have particular experience supporting people navigating profound or disruptive experiences—whether that means processing trauma, grieving someone they love, adjusting to changes in health or ability, caring for a loved one, or confronting questions of identity, meaning, mortality, and what comes next. My work draws from somatic, existential, transpersonal, mindfulness-based, and person-centered approaches. Rather than applying one method to everyone, I tailor therapy to the individual, attending to both the emotional and embodied aspects of their experience. Our work may include developing resources for greater stability and regulation as well as exploring and processing experiences more deeply when appropriate. Above all, I believe therapy should be a place where you feel genuinely heard and understood. My role is to meet you where you are, help you make sense of what you have been carrying, and support you in moving toward greater connection, choice, and meaning in your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and you do not need to have everything figured out before we meet. During our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know one another, talking about what brings you to therapy, and exploring what you would like support with. I’ll also answer any questions you have about the process. There is no need to prepare anything in particular. My goal for our first few sessions is to understand you in the context of your experiences, relationships, strengths, and current circumstances, while allowing us to determine together what would be most helpful for you. Therapy is collaborative, and you are always welcome to let me know what is or isn’t working for you. We will move at a pace that feels appropriate and continue to shape our work around your needs and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin by creating space to understand what brings you to therapy, what you have been carrying, and what you hope might feel different. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to work on—we can figure that out together. My approach is warm, collaborative, and individualized. Sessions often combine conversation with attention to the ways stress, grief, trauma, and life experiences can show up in the body and nervous system. Depending on your needs, our work may include developing practical coping tools, exploring patterns and relationships, processing difficult experiences, and making space for grief, uncertainty, identity, or major life transitions. I work at a pace that feels manageable rather than pushing toward change before you are ready. Over time, our focus is not only on reducing distress, but on helping you feel more connected to yourself, more supported in navigating what you are facing, and better able to build a life that feels meaningful to you.

More information on payments and coverage

I accept Original Medicare (Medicare Part B) and private-pay clients. I do not participate in-network with commercial insurance plans. For clients with Original Medicare Part B, services are billed directly to Medicare in accordance with Medicare coverage requirements. Applicable deductibles and coinsurance may apply depending on your coverage. For private-pay clients, sessions are $175 for 50 minutes. If your commercial insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement varies by plan, so I encourage clients to contact their insurer directly to understand their out-of-network benefits. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about payment or coverage before scheduling.
