I'm Alona Perlin, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the Silver School of Social Work in Westchester County and a Master's in Psychology from Columbia University. I have 15 years of professional experience. I specialize in treating mood disorders like depression, as well as anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship concerns, career concerns, self-esteem building, and more. My approach I use emotionally supportive psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I also believe in the strengths perspective, where the client is the expert of their own experience. My focus I work with all ages, including tweens, teens, adults, and the elderly. I provide individual treatment, couples counseling, and family therapy. My communication style I'm patient, supportive, and compassionate. My journey to mental healthcare My journey began with experiences in my mother country during the Soviet era, where citizens had limited choices and resources. This influenced my career in social work. Personally, I've faced emotional abuse, trauma, and grief. I'm on an ongoing path of reflection and self-awareness and seek therapy myself. Along with my education, my experiences provide a backbone for understanding and compassion toward others with similar experiences.
