Getting to know Kevin Gamgort

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and finding the right therapist matters. I specialize in working with adults and young professionals navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, life transitions, and men’s mental health concerns. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns of overthinking, struggling with work-related stress, dating and family issues, loneliness, or low self-esteem. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable exploring what’s on your mind and working toward meaningful change. Together, we can better understand the challenges you’re facing, strengthen your relationships, and develop healthier ways of coping with the pressures of everyday life. I take a collaborative approach to therapy and tailor our work to your individual needs and goals. Drawing from psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and strengths-based approaches, we will identify patterns that may be holding you back, build practical skills, and deepen your understanding of yourself. I believe therapy should feel both supportive and empowering—offering insight as well as tools that help create lasting change. I earned my Master of Social Work from the NYU Silver School of Social Work and have experience supporting adults through a wide range of emotional and personal challenges. I have a particular passion for helping men navigate questions around identity, relationships, and emotional well-being while creating a space where all clients feel understood and supported. Whether you are facing a major life transition, struggling with anxiety or relationship concerns, or simply feeling that something in your life is not working, therapy can provide an opportunity to gain clarity and move forward with greater confidence and purpose. I look forward to helping you build a life that feels more balanced, connected, and fulfilling.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self. Clients often share that they appreciate having a space where they feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted, and I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change. My style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. Rather than offering quick answers or telling you what to do, I'll work alongside you as a partner to better understand your experiences, identify patterns that may be contributing to your challenges, build on your strengths, and help you develop practical tools to navigate life's ups and downs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are an opportunity for us to get to know one another and develop a shared understanding of what has brought you to therapy. We'll explore your current concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and goals to create a treatment approach that feels right for you. As therapy progresses, we'll begin identifying patterns that may be contributing to your challenges while building practical tools and strategies to support meaningful, lasting change. Drawing from psychodynamic, CBT, ACT, and strengths-based approaches, I'll adapt our work together to best support your goals and help you navigate life's challenges with greater confidence, resilience, and self-understanding. Throughout the process, we'll regularly check in on your progress and adjust our work together as your needs and goals evolve.
