Getting to know Kevyn Monier

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience providing therapy to adolescents, adults, student-athletes, and military populations. My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure, allowing me to support clients dealing with anxiety, stress, trauma, performance pressure, and life transitions. I have extensive experience working with high-performing individuals, including student-athletes, where I focus on building mental resilience, emotional awareness, and practical coping strategies that translate into both personal and professional success. In addition, my background includes working with veterans and individuals facing dual-diagnosis concerns, providing clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and ongoing therapeutic care. My approach is collaborative, structured, and goal-oriented, helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing tools to navigate challenges in real time. I strive to create a space that is supportive, direct, and grounded—where individuals can process difficult experiences, strengthen emotional regulation, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients can expect a structured, collaborative, and practical approach to therapy. My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on helping you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so you can make meaningful, lasting changes. I tend to be active in sessions—we will not just talk about problems, but work on tools and strategies you can apply in real life. I also place a strong emphasis on sleep, as it is foundational to mental health, and often incorporate CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) techniques to help improve sleep patterns and overall functioning. I frequently use bibliotherapy, recommending targeted readings or exercises to reinforce what we discuss and support progress between sessions. While therapy can involve working through difficult experiences, I also believe that moments of humor can be an important part of the process—sometimes a good laugh helps create perspective and makes the work feel more manageable. My goal is to create a space that feels supportive, focused, and forward-moving, where you can build insight, develop skills, and leave each session with something useful to carry into your week.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process is structured, collaborative, and grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). As a Certified CBT Clinician, I value the clarity and direction that CBT provides, helping us focus on specific goals while understanding how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact. Early sessions are focused on getting a clear understanding of your concerns, identifying patterns, and developing a shared plan for treatment. From there, sessions are purposeful and organized—we set an agenda, review progress, and work on practical strategies you can apply between sessions. I emphasize skill-building, so you leave with tools you can use in real-life situations, not just insight. I also integrate areas like sleep (CBT-I) and may use reading or exercises (bibliotherapy) to reinforce progress outside of session. Overall, my approach is active, goal-oriented, and designed to help you see measurable change while feeling supported throughout the process.
