Hi, I'm Kiera! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and psychology professor who works with the overthinkers, perfectionists, intellectualizers, and deep feelers. If your mind rarely slows down, you find yourself caught in endless "what ifs," or you feel like you're constantly trying to do everything right, you're in the right place. I specialize in helping teens and adults navigate anxiety disorders, OCD, intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, trauma, burnout, and self-doubt. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based psychology, with plenty of room for curiosity, compassion, and humor. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety disorders. I also incorporate feminist, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based perspectives. My goal isn't to teach you how to eliminate every uncomfortable thought or feeling. Instead, we'll work toward developing psychological flexibility, understanding the patterns keeping you stuck, and learning how to respond to life's challenges in ways that reflect your values rather than your fears. I'm especially passionate about helping people who are already incredibly self-aware but still struggle to translate insight into meaningful change. We'll explore the "why" behind your experiences while also building practical skills you can use outside of our sessions. Above all, I want therapy to feel like a space where you can show up exactly as you are. Together, we'll cultivate the courage to do hard things, embrace uncertainty, and build a life that feels more authentically yours.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you're someone who tends to overthink everything! You don't need to have the right words, know exactly what you want to work on, or have everything figured out before your first session. Our initial sessions will focus on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and exploring what you'd like to change. We'll work collaboratively to identify goals that feel meaningful to you. My hope is that you'll feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self, asking questions, and sharing feedback throughout our work together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy with me is collaborative, conversational, and tailored to your needs. We'll begin by exploring your concerns, personal history, current challenges, and goals for treatment. As we continue, we'll identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships that may be contributing to feeling stuck. I balance insight and self-exploration with practical strategies drawn from evidence-based approaches. Depending on your needs, sessions may involve exploring values, practicing mindfulness and self-compassion, challenging longstanding beliefs, or engaging in exposure-based exercises for anxiety and OCD. I also encourage practicing what we discuss between sessions. Meaningful change often happens when we begin responding differently to challenges in our everyday lives.
