MI
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan with nearly nine years of experience in community mental health, behavioral health, and human services. My professional background includes direct clinical practice, behavioral support, case management, program oversight, and leadership within complex service systems. I have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, behavioral concerns, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, relationship challenges, burnout, and significant life transitions. My clinical approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and collaborative, incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma-informed care. In addition to providing therapy, I have extensive experience developing, implementing, and monitoring behavioral treatment plans and supporting individuals with complex behavioral and developmental needs. My leadership experience has strengthened my ability to understand the broader systems that impact clients, including healthcare access, community resources, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuity of care. I strive to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves, identifying meaningful goals, and developing practical strategies for managing challenges. I believe therapy should be individualized, collaborative, and focused on helping people build greater confidence, insight, resilience, and quality of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect therapy with me to be collaborative, supportive, and individualized to your needs. I understand that opening up to someone new can feel uncomfortable, so I focus on creating a space where you can be yourself without feeling judged or pressured. My style is conversational and down-to-earth while still being goal-focused. I will listen, ask questions, help you identify patterns, and work with you to develop practical strategies you can use outside of sessions. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I draw from different evidence-based techniques depending on what works best for you. I value honesty, humor when appropriate, and meeting people where they are. You do not need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. We can work together to better understand what is going on, identify what you would like to change, and take manageable steps toward your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you, understanding what brought you to therapy, and identifying the concerns or goals that feel most important to you. I also want to understand what has and has not worked for you in the past so we can shape therapy around your individual needs. Typical sessions are conversational but purposeful. We may talk through recent situations, identify patterns in thoughts, emotions, relationships, or behaviors, and explore how those patterns are affecting you. Depending on your goals, we may also work on coping skills, communication, boundaries, problem-solving, emotional regulation, or practical strategies you can use between sessions. I regularly check in about what is working and whether therapy feels helpful. Goals can change over time, and I view treatment as a collaborative process rather than something that is done to you. My role is to help you better understand yourself, feel supported, and develop tools that can create meaningful and lasting changes in your day-to-day life.
