Getting to know Kimberley Sterling

Hello, I'm Kimberley. If you're struggling with feelings of intense anxiety, helplessness, or have a history of trauma and are unsure of where to turn for help, you've come to the right place. My specialty is trauma counseling, but I also have extensive experience in helping with anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, and adjusting to life’s challenges. My counseling style is one of compassion and caring. My desire is to facilitate your growth and healing, while providing a safe space for you to share your emotions. I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling and Higher Education from the University of North Texas in Denton and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Additionally, I am fully trained in EMDR therapy. I work with clients from many different backgrounds and have experience counseling individuals from age 6 and up, as well as couples and families. The therapeutic techniques I use consistently include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. These therapies explore the meanings we attach to significant events in our lives, help break the cycle of negative thought patterns that have developed over time, and develop much more realistic and healthy mindsets. I also utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) if it is beneficial to your healing. My purpose is not to walk ahead of you, telling you where to go, nor is it to walk behind you, picking up the pieces, but rather to walk beside you, giving you support on your healing journey and working collaboratively with you to find solutions that work for you! You’ll find that I have a soft approach, and that I will wholeheartedly encourage you to find strength and power within yourself.
