Kimberly Adams, LPC

Psychotherapist
AL
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 6 years of experience helping high-functioning adults navigate relational trauma, emotional overwhelm, and the pressure of always showing up for others. I specialize in supporting individuals who appear confident and capable on the outside but are silently carrying anxiety, guilt, or burnout underneath. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in real-life application. I integrate CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed strategies to help clients uncover patterns, rebuild trust in their emotions, and create sustainable change. Therapy with me is not just about processing—it’s about equipping you with the tools to set boundaries, manage stress, and reconnect with your inner peace. I work with adults navigating: Difficult or toxic relationships, Anxiety, emotional burnout, and self-doubt, Trauma recovery and boundary setting, Life transitions, caregiving fatigue, or justice-involved systems. I also have experience working with justice-impacted individuals and offer a safe space to process trauma, rebuild identity, and restore hope.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe me as warm, honest, and emotionally attuned. I balance empathy with direct feedback to help you move forward while feeling deeply supported. You’ll never have to “perform” in our sessions—just show up as you are. I became a therapist because I saw how many people—especially women and caregivers—lose themselves in the process of showing up for others. My own experiences, along with my work in reentry programs, school-based counseling, and diversion initiatives, have shaped my commitment to offering trauma-informed care that centers your voice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together is about helping you: Set and maintain healthy boundaries, Heal from relational wounds or emotional burnout, Build self-trust and clarity around your needs, and Restore your sense of identity and purpose. In our first session, we’ll get to know each other. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and what’s felt most challenging. Together, we’ll identify where you’d like to start and move at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
