My name is Kim Carey, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Eastern Washington University. I have been in the field of Social Work for over 17 years and love to learn and help others find success and build on their strengths. I believe in meeting others where they are in their experience and building from there. I also believe it is essential for individuals to establish goals and desires for themselves and work toward them. I am here to support you on that journey, which can be so rewarding.
My approach
I have experience in many approaches and modalities of therapy, including CBT, EMDR, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Neurofeedback, and others. Overall, I believe it is not a one-size-fits-all approach; observation and assessment are important. I feel honored to get to know those I work with, and being trusted is such a special gift.
My focus
I typically work with clients experiencing life changes, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, health conditions, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, relationship challenges, and individuals who feel misunderstood as they navigate through life.
My communication style
I have a desire to create a safe space for everyone and allow all to feel heard. My goal is to meet you where you are and allow for all emotions to be expressed in a safe and healthy manner. I believe in creating a safe and confidential space to make that possible. Openness is important, as is allowing a free flow of emotions and experiences.
My journey to mental healthcare
I love people and learning about their various experiences. I have always had a desire to help and value human connection. I truly believe that people are not defined by their mistakes or challenges; their worth far outweighs any mistakes or regrets they may have.
