Kimberly Davis, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
I currently work as a licensed clinical mental health counselor in the state of North Carolina. I work with people from many different backgrounds on a variety of presenting problems. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in forensics from Walden University, and my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of Charleston. Before starting Centered Self Care, I worked in a variety of settings. At the start of my career, I worked in community mental health, providing individual, family, and group therapy to teens and adults in the therapy office. I also work individually with teens and families involved in the juvenile justice system. More recently, I worked in hospital systems in Western North Carolina, providing assessments in the emergency department to individuals seeking support in managing a psychiatric emergency. During this time, I continued to provide ongoing individual and family counseling through a medical practice.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Compassion and learning to build safety are key pieces in my therapeutic approach. Being able to speak honestly and explore beliefs, thoughts, and choices is huge in creating safety and change. Everyone deserves safety and a chance to define and build happiness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We focus on building the mindset that will be most helpful while also identifying what skills, strategies, and behaviors are most beneficial. So talk through what you are observing, noticing, and feeling and what is and isn't working. Then we work together to assess what you need and what level of change or understanding would be most beneficial. Towards the end, we talk about what stood out in our time together and identify the action plan or area of focus.
