Getting to know Kimberly DuBois

I am an experienced LPC with an extensive history in working with patients struggling with eating disorders, trauma/PTSD, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders. I have a rather eclectic style that is both person-centered and skills-based. I want to work with you to focus on short-term relief from symptoms in addition to long-term, meaningful changes. I have worked at all levels of care (from residential to outpatient) so have a pretty solid understanding of the struggles you might be facing, as well as what strategies and techniques can actually help.

What should a new client know about working with you?

No one wants to be in treatment forever. With so much experience at the higher levels of care, I am accustomed to finding quicker ways to create meaningful change. You can expect that from our first session I will provide you with tools and education to help you feel better right away. No one can predict how long the healing will take, but it is my goal to help you and reduce your overall time in therapy. For the eating disorder behaviors, I use a lot of DBT and CBT for skills work. When working with trauma, CPT rarely requires you to revisit the trauma itself, so you'll only share that part of your story if you want to. To gain insight and explore the "why" of certain struggles, I draw from narrative therapy and REBT, among others. I will always meet you where you are and work with you to set goals for healing.
