Kimberly Jackson, LPCMH

Psychotherapist
DE
My professional journey began by supporting individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments—providing home health care, guiding individuals in recovery, and working alongside families in schools and community settings. These early experiences shaped my deep commitment to compassionate, person-centered care. Over time, I stepped fully into my calling as a therapist, grounded in the belief that trust—not technique—is what creates lasting change. I have served as a Clinical Behavioral Specialist with The Columbus Organization, where I supported youth and families using evidence-based practices in collaboration with schools, courts, and community systems. My work with Cora’s and Delaware Guidance further expanded my experience in school-based and community mental health, helping children, adolescents, and adults build stronger, healthier futures. My background also includes roles as a peer support counselor and home health aide, as well as owning and operating a daycare—giving me a well-rounded understanding of caregiving, family dynamics, and real-life challenges across the lifespan. I hold a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Springfield College, along with additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Project Management from the University of Delaware.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means entering a space where you are seen, heard, and not judged. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, not clinical or distant. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start—just a willingness to show up. I tailor therapy to each individual, drawing from evidence-based approaches such as ACT, CBT, CPT, DBT, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Strength-Based practices. Whether you are navigating trauma, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, our work will focus on both healing and growth. Many of my clients are women navigating life transitions—such as divorce, motherhood, or career changes—who want to strengthen their self-worth, set healthier boundaries, and reconnect with themselves. Together, we identify your existing strengths while addressing the emotional barriers that may be holding you back.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is structured yet flexible, allowing us to move at a pace that feels safe and productive for you: 1. Initial Session (Getting to Know You) We begin by exploring what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and your goals. This is also a space for you to ask questions and determine if I’m the right fit for you. 2. Assessment & Goal Setting Together, we identify patterns, challenges, and strengths. We’ll develop clear, meaningful goals that align with what you want to change or improve. 3. Active Therapy Work Using tailored interventions (such as CBT, EMDR, or ACT), we work through underlying issues, build coping strategies, and develop new ways of thinking and responding. 4. Integration & Skill Building You’ll begin applying what you’ve learned in real-life situations—strengthening boundaries, improving communication, and increasing emotional awareness. 5. Ongoing Reflection & Growth We regularly check in on your progress, adjust goals as needed, and ensure therapy continues to meet your evolving needs.
