Getting to know Kimberly Mitchell

Since graduating from Miami University with a Bachelor's degree and then earning my Master's in Clinical Social Work from Smith College School of Social Work in Massachusetts, I have worked in a variety of treatment settings with children, adolescents, and adults. These settings have included hospitals, residential care, day treatment centers, outpatient clinics, and schools. I have been a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Connecticut for 20 years. Given my work experience, I am able to provide treatment for a wide range of issues. I have experience providing both short-term and long-term care to all ages for a myriad of presenting concerns, ranging from adjustment disorders to mood and anxiety disorders. I currently have immediate openings.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist I can be someone to listen, support, and guide you in feeling better and achieving some of your life hopes and dreams. Maybe this is building on your past or creating your future in a new and different way. My work is strength based and trauma informed care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I ask that a client attend a minimum of 12 sessions. The first few sessions are focused on developing a therapeutic alliance getting to know each other, identifying presenting issues and strengths and then identifying solutions.
