Getting to know Kimberly Reid

One of my favorite quotes that guides me personally and professionally is from Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” When a client walks through my door, I believe they are doing the best they can. My desire is to help them, when struggling amidst their best efforts, to find "the better." That requires listening without judgment, unconditional positive regard, validating and affirming, and finding ways to see and do things differently to bring change. It's not easy, but with a guide helping you notice what's coming and become more self-aware and self-accepting, it can happen... one small step at a time. I have experienced struggles with anxiety, postpartum depression, trauma, and grief. In seeking healing, I learned early that we heal in community. As human beings, we are relational by nature. My greatest desire as a counselor is to use the knowledge, experience, and support poured into me over the years to assist others in finding perseverance, character, and hope emerging from life’s struggles. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University Orlando Campus. Like anything worth doing, living a healthy lifestyle takes work and practice. Practice makes prepared. I enjoy helping clients prepare to live healthier, happier lives through intentional practices we implement along the way. I'd love to join you in your journey and help write a life-changing chapter in your story. I have been married to my husband for 34 years and am the mother of four adult children (little counseling experience there too). I am a native Floridian who enjoys reading, walking, the beach, and family time. I am a member of Orangewood Church in Maitland, where I serve in the community to share hope through the love of God.
