“Ms Rodriguez is empathetic and continually shows an understanding of my perspectives on problems. She has the capability to view my circumstances as I see them and that allows her to sync with me as we progress through our sessions. She's made me feel comfortable in circumstances that were unnerving before I communicated them to her. She has provided me with a pivot point that stands out in my mind as a time of self-realization. I owe the clarity of my present thinking to her efforts and the time she spent counseling me. ”

Getting to know Kimberly Rodriguez

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience in the fields of mental health and substance abuse. I completed both my undergraduate (BSSW) and graduate (MSW) studies at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, graduating as one of the youngest in my cohort. I also completed the Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Fellowship, where I gained expertise in inter-professional behavioral health practices while working with vulnerable and culturally diverse populations. With three years of professional practice as a clinical social worker, I specialize in treating co-occurring disorders, as well as addressing concerns such as childhood trauma, attachment wounds, and other factors that may impact an individual’s current functioning. I am dedicated to fostering a therapeutic environment where I actively listen to and understand my clients, allowing me to tailor treatment approaches to meet each person’s unique needs. I am able to implement therapeutic modalities in both English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a broader range of clients. My approach is eclectic, grounded in Psycho-dynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, you can expect a collaborative process where your goals and preferences are at the forefront. I value open communication and transparency, so I encourage you to share what’s working for you and what might not be. This helps ensure that we’re always aligned on the best path forward. I also believe in the importance of pacing – therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and I’ll work with you to move at a speed that feels right for you, ensuring that you feel comfortable, heard, and empowered throughout the process. In addition, I take an integrative approach, meaning that I draw on a variety of therapeutic techniques and frameworks depending on what best serves your needs. Whether it’s exploring past experiences, focusing on current challenges, or building coping skills for the future, my goal is to help you develop the tools and insights you need to lead a fulfilling and balanced life. Ultimately, my focus is on your well-being, and I’m committed to supporting you on your journey with empathy, respect, and dedication. Therapy can be a challenging but rewarding experience, and I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process for working with clients begins with creating a safe and welcoming space where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and experiences. I believe that building trust is the foundation of effective therapy, so I focus on creating an open, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your challenges without fear of criticism or dismissal. At the start, we’ll work together to identify your goals and priorities. This allows us to have a clear focus and direction, whether you're dealing with specific mental health concerns, past trauma, or life transitions. I take the time to understand your personal history, current struggles, and aspirations, so that I can tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs. Throughout our work together, I use an integrative approach, which means I draw from various therapeutic techniques that best suit you. This might include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address unhelpful thought patterns, Psycho-dynamic Therapy to explore past experiences that may be influencing your present, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you develop greater emotional flexibility and resilience. I always make sure to adjust my methods based on what’s most effective for you. While I help you build self-awareness and identify areas for growth, I also emphasize the importance of accountability. This means that as we work together, I encourage you to take small steps toward positive change, reinforcing your progress and celebrating your achievements along the way. Ultimately, my goal is to support you in becoming the best version of yourself. I believe in your ability to grow, heal, and create the life you want, and I’m here to walk beside you in that process, offering guidance, compassion, and practical tools that can help you navigate challenges both in and out of therapy.
