About Kimberly Shapps
I am a licensed clinical social worker and former family law attorney. For over 10 years I have worked with individuals facing a range of issues that have impacted their ability to live fuller lives. Life presents us all with challenges, from expected life transitions to unforeseen crises. I work with clients to better understand life's problems, identify individual strengths and develop new coping skills to meet and exceed these challenges. I take an eclectic approach to counseling, tailoring treatment methods to best meet each individual client's goals. For some clients an insight-oriented or psychodynamic approach works well. Others may benefit from a combination of relational or behavioral approaches, coupled with learning concrete skills for addressing issues. Still others find that a supportive and compassionate listener is what is needed to help them reach their own answers. Regardless of which theoretical model is used, I place a great deal of emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and believe strongly in the importance of collaboration between client and therapist and empowerment of the individual. The foundation of my approach is client-centered and non-judgmental, and always comes from a place of support and compassion.

Patient reviews for Kimberly Shapps, JD, LCSW
Dr. Shapps made me feel really comfortable during my first visit to open up (needed emergency help) - she saw me right away and it was a great experience, highly recommend her!
Kimberly Shapps has been very helpful and caring with my therapy. She has a soothing personality that puts you at ease. I can always get an appointment when I need it.
Kimberly Shapps was very warm and friendly. She made me feel very comfortable.
I've been seeing Dr. Shapps for two months and am truly pleased with the care I've received. She is prompt, professional and quickly gets to the root of my problems. She makes connects other professionals never have. She is very easy to talk to, makes me feel comfortable and has a lovely office. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking psychological care, particularly first-time therapy goers – as her approach is gentler than some others I've been to.
She was very nice, it just wasn't a fit for me personally -- I have a hard time finding a therapist I am comfortable opening up to so I don't think this is necessarily a reflection on her. Would recommend to others!
Kimberly is really nice and kind, a gentle listener. I don't think we are personally a good fit (finding a therapist that fits you well is basically like dating!) but I enjoyed her presence, reassuring words, and her attitude.
Right away Kimberly's calm demeanor and patience comforted me enough to open up immediately. I still see her regularly and I already feel better knowing that every session is going to bring clarity in some way.
Very calm, patient, and soothing. I'm very happy that she is so courteous and doesn't force me to talk about anything I'm uncomfortable about.
She was very professional but also kind and understanding. Her office is welcoming, and the whole appointment was easy.
She was great at giving advice, listening, and engaging in thoughtful dialogue--which is great for a counseling session. I am seeing her again on Wednesday because I liked her so much!
Shes an extremely attentive listener and provides helpful feedback if that is what is requested
Kimberly Shapps is very kind, compassionate and a great listener. She offers great advice.
