Kimberly Thomas, LPC

Kimberly Thomas, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2018 and was trained in EMDR in 2021. Over the course of the last 4 years, I have concentrated on building my private practice while also working part-time at Howard Payne University (2 years of which I was the lead counselor) and at TrueCore--The Oaks, a treatment center for incarcerated male juveniles. I have finally reached the point where I am strictly private practice. The experiences I have had through counseling have been invaluable in that I have worked with first responders, active duty Special Forces military, couples, adolescents, and families who are in crisis. The work is challenging, but I have loved every minute of what I am doing! I will add that I worked as a public school teacher for 17 years at the high school level before receiving my Master's degree. On a more personal note, I am very happily married to my husband Bill; we have five children and 11 grandchildren, which makes our times together loud, rowdy, and fun!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that my counseling is based on the following principles: 1) YOU are the expert on you! Together, we can make a formidable team addressing your concerns! 2) ACA, State of Texas, and Grow Therapy confidentiality guidelines will be followed in their entirety. 3) Not one single treatment plan fits every client; I will insure that your therapy is individualized to your particular situation. 4) While I am blunt, you can be sure that you will be treated with the utmost respect as we work collaboratively with each other to empower you with new coping skills for managing the challenges of life! I can also assure you that although I am a Christian, I absolutely refuse to attempt to force my beliefs on you and had rather you just be YOU!

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
