Getting to know Kinga Sherrill

My professional background: The human condition has always been a deep interest of mine, so naturally, I became a psychotherapist. I have been in the field of mental health and psychotherapy since earning my Master's degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University in 1986. My Professional Counselor license, number 1731, was first earned in 1991. Extensive hospital, clinic and private practice work has given me a wide range of training and experience. I have received specialized trainings in cognitive behavioral therapy, experiential psychology, trauma informed therapy, grief therapy, dual diagnosis disorders, and much more. This learning has helped me to help hundreds of people for well over 35 years. I am a long-standing member of the National Board of Certified Counselors and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, with certification as a professional counselor supervisor. Counseling can help with alleviating the symptoms of: Stress (I like helping people improve self-care and stress management!) Anxiety and panic attacks Depression Grief and loss Co-dependency issues Relationship Issues Trauma, especially complex trauma Recovery maintenance to assist with sobriety.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic philosophy: A belief I hold dear is that we can learn to become more mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually healthy and whole, regardless of past or present circumstances. My aim is to use whatever therapeutic modalities fit the individual’s needs to empower them to work through barriers to happiness and health; to connect with their inner strengths and become Whole.

I appreciate time spent with Dr. Sherrill. It has been very helpful and she has taken my "stories" of lemons and made lemonade. She has instill me values that has allowed my self-worth to be treasured by others. I absolutely feel she has made a difference in my life and I will always refer back to tools she's extended me.
