Kirsten Taylor, LPC

Psychotherapist
WI
Hello, my name is Kirsten Taylor. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from St. Mary's University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. I take a client-centered approach to counseling and work with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, grief, relationships, trauma/abuse, and others. My approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and client-centered therapy, among others. I have experience working with many types of clients, ranging in age from 18 to 99. In terms of conditions, I have worked with depression, anxiety and panic, PTSD, adjustment issues, and more. My communication style begins with helping the client feel heard and understood. During the intake process, I gather a complete picture of their history with the issue and in general so I can understand them better. I want the client to be at ease and as comfortable as possible with the process, and I invite them to ask any questions they have. I became a therapist in mid-life after a career in business. I had always wanted to work in a helping field, and when I worked in a managed mental health care firm as an intake worker, I went to grad school, got licensed as an LPC, and spent about eight years in a community clinic and eight years in my own practice. My goals for you are developed in a client-centered, collaborative way to create goals that are meaningful to you and reflect where you want to see progress. In our first session, I strive to be welcoming. Most clients are able to share about their life, challenges, and where they want to head in therapy.
