Kitasha Martin, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Kitasha (Kia) Martin. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, CA-LCS 22861. I utilize supportive techniques to meet clients where they are and walk with them on the journey to healing. My approach I have experience in providing therapy utilizing Person-Centered and Cognitive-Behavioral approaches to support patients and assist them with developing more control over their mental and emotional environments. My focus I support clients in addressing challenges with anger, depression, life transitions, adjustment to stressors, and conflicts within family of origin. My target population is aged 18+. I have expertise in working with clients identifying as LGBTQ. My communication style I work with each client to develop a virtual Therapy Room that is safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental. I create a special holding space for the client that is nurturing and yet also challenging to client's core beliefs, unhelpful thought patterns, attitudes, and the narratives they devise, to walk them through the trauma or challenges they face. My journey to mental healthcare I do not think of being a Therapist as a career choice. For me, it is a calling and it is my hope that I am able through my education, training, experience (both in the classroom and the School of Life) that I can act as a guide/light for my clients as they walk the path to healing. My goals for you The goal-setting phase should be collaborative and client-centered such that the client can see the metrics that should be guiding their process. My first session with you Initially, I spend the first portion of a session educating clients on Informed Consent issues such as limits of confidentiality and risks/benefits of therapy. I use agendas for each session to ensure that the areas most important to the client are addressed. The client is then free to share with me the history/information needed to understand their concerns.
