Psychotherapist
WI
I'm an eccentric, nerdy, socially awkward member of the LGBTQIA+ community in northern Wisconsin, who became a therapist to help people in the same way that other therapists helped me in life. Therapy can seem intimidating, but it is just a way to connect with another human who can help validate, explore perspectives, listen without judgment, and provide much-needed support as you traverse the ups and downs of life. Therapists just have a few extra tools in their pocket to help along the way. My approach You are the expert of your own life. As a therapist, my approach is not to tell you what you "should" do, or to judge what you have done thus far. Instead, through my primary approach of narrative therapy, I help explore how your past continues to influence your present. Through clarifying, exploring, and adjusting the narratives (stories, or how we assume things to be) by which we live our lives, we can often uncover new perspectives or paths forward that we couldn't see before. To supplement this, I also work with various communication skills and techniques, mindfulness and somatic techniques, and interpersonal skill-building, among a variety of other skills and techniques. My focus Since I only provide services through telehealth/online platforms, I do require my clients to be at least 12 years of age simply because it can be challenging to hold the attention of younger children through online therapy. I am happy to work with a wide variety of folks, but my practice has tended to center around supporting folks within the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as relationship counseling (couples, polycules, ethical non-monogamy, etc.). I also have significant experience working with folks who struggle with anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, and self-worth/self-esteem.
