What should a new client know about working with you?

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Person Centered approaches in therapy. Sessions are client centered. A person centered approach allows me to navigate and explore what clients discuss in session. It makes it possible to model open-minded thinking so clients can see things differently, understand or identify what they want or need all while figuring things out on their own with the support and challenges that I can bring. I also use Cognitive Behavior Therapy techniques to help clients reframe negative thoughts and change behaviors that clients want to manage. Mindfulness also works well with Cognitive Behavior Therapy approaches because together it can help clients be more intentional with self awareness and self care needs. Techniques such as grounding, deep breathing, meditation, and journaling are some useful strategies.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients will have a different mindset and big take aways after our talk therapy sessions. Clients will experience new ideas, different ways of thinking, new outcomes that they did not realize they wanted and ways to go about making those changes. Clients will be able to walk away with next steps and strategies that they were able to form in session and implement them. When we meet next, clients will discuss outcomes of these actions, benefits or lack of, feelings, and emotions. We will discuss how to continue to keep moving forward towards the clients' ultimate goal.
